The Iran-Turkey-Azerbaijan trilateral format is a tactical cooperation rather than a strategic one – turkologist

The joint declaration signed by Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan was not against Armenia.

The joint declaration adopted by the trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan, has caused various opinions and comments in some political circles of Armenia. In particular, the provision on the Karabakh conflict included in this declaration and the participation of Iran in it.

In this context, turkologist Varuzhan Geghamyan, first of all, emphasizes that neither the trilateral meeting nor the adopted declaration were new. “The meeting simply took place in such conditions and in such a period that it gave the reason for reflection. That is why many said that the meeting was against Armenia, but this wasn’t that,” the turkologist says.

Expert of Iranian studies Armen Israelyan is of the same opinion. Moreover, according to him, the wording in this statement was more neutral. Find the details in the program “Paradigm”.
